At least when it comes to software development. Rather use "tasks/units of work left to do". Geek and poke sum it up nicely:

100% coded, or 100% Coded, Tested and Documented. The different perspectives in projects and what that means can cause havoc in managing the triangle of Schedule, Cost and Scope.

BTW, Alistair Cockburn, is one of the leading Agile luminaries, for those yet to investigate agile. It's well worth reading his books if you are looking for a different approach.

Glad to see I'm not the only one interested in agile techniques.
